Avoid delays

Why GST applications from Hyderabad get stuck, and how we prevent it

  • Address
Address proof doesn't matchThe door number, ward or PIN on the electricity bill or property papers differs from the application. We match them before filing.
  • Land papers
Property in someone else's nameIf the building or land is still in a parent's or grandparent's name, add the owner's consent letter and ID. We check the pahani, passbook or tax receipt before uploading.
  • Aadhaar
Aadhaar authentication skippedWithout it, the officer can order a site visit and approval can take up to 30 days. We complete it on day one.
  • Photos
Unclear photos of the premisesOfficers often ask for a photo showing the name board and the building. We tell you exactly what to click.
  • Limit
Assuming the ₹40 lakh limitMany people expect the ₹40 lakh goods limit, but in Telangana the limit is ₹20 lakh for goods too. Late registration means tax, interest and penalty on past sales.
  • Codes
Wrong HSN/SAC or business typeChoosing the wrong codes or constitution leads to queries later. We select them based on what you actually sell.
  • Queries

FAQs

GST registration in Hyderabad: FAQs

How much does GST registration cost in Hyderabad?

The GST department charges no fee for registration. iBACT Digital's professional fee starts at ₹499 + GST and covers eligibility advice, HSN/SAC code selection, filing Form GST REG-01 and replies to any query from the officer.

How long does GST registration take in Hyderabad?

Most applications from Hyderabad are approved in 3 to 7 working days after Aadhaar authentication. If Aadhaar authentication is skipped, or the officer orders a physical verification of your premises, it can take up to 30 days. We track the application and reply to any query for you.

What is the GST registration limit for businesses in Hyderabad?

In Telangana, registration is compulsory once aggregate turnover crosses ₹20 lakh, for goods as well as for services. The ₹40 lakh limit for goods used in many States does not apply here. Sellers of goods to other States and e-commerce sellers of goods across States must register from the first sale.

Which documents are needed for GST registration in Hyderabad?

PAN and Aadhaar of the proprietor, partners or directors, a photograph, bank proof, and proof of your business address in Hyderabad: a recent TGSPDCL electricity bill, the property tax receipt from the corporation, municipality or gram panchayat, or the pahani / ROR or pattadar passbook from Bhu Bharati for your own land, with the owner's consent if the property is in a family member's name. For rented premises, add the rent agreement.

What is the GST state code for Telangana?

36. Every GSTIN issued to a business registered in Telangana, including one in Hyderabad, starts with 36, followed by the PAN of the business.

How can I get a GST number in Hyderabad?

Share your PAN, Aadhaar, photo, address proof and bank details with us on WhatsApp. We file Form GST REG-01 online, you confirm an Aadhaar OTP, and the department issues your 15-digit GSTIN starting with 36 and the registration certificate.

Do pharma units, factories and IT firms in Hyderabad need GST registration from the start?

Usually yes. Pharma and bulk drug units, factories in TGIIC industrial areas, aerospace and engineering suppliers and IT firms selling to companies supply other businesses, so they need a GSTIN to give tax invoices, claim input tax credit and move goods with e-way bills. Exporters of goods or software file an LUT; we handle it with your registration.

Why is the GST limit for goods ₹20 lakh in Telangana?

In 2019 the GST Council let States raise the limit for suppliers of goods to ₹40 lakh. Telangana is one of the States outside that limit, so a business here selling only goods must register once turnover crosses ₹20 lakh, in every district and mandal. The services limit is ₹20 lakh, as in most States.

Can I use a TGSPDCL electricity bill as address proof for GST in Hyderabad?

Yes. A recent TGSPDCL electricity bill for the premises in Hyderabad is one of the most readily accepted proofs. If the bill is in a family member's name, add their consent letter and ID.

Do I need a separate GST registration for a branch in another district of Telangana?

No. One GST registration covers the whole State. A shop, godown or office in another district of Telangana is added as an additional place of business. You need a separate registration only for another State.

Do contractors working for government departments in Hyderabad need GST?

Yes. Government departments, R&B, TGIIC, the discoms, municipal corporations, municipalities, panchayats and PSUs such as SCCL, NTPC and BHEL ask for a GSTIN in tenders and work orders, and deduct TDS under GST on larger contracts. The TDS shows in your GST account and is used to pay your tax.

Do I need a trade licence along with GST in Hyderabad?

GST doesn't need one, but municipal corporations and municipalities issue trade licences for shops in their towns, and shops and offices register under the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988. A trade licence is also useful supporting proof of your place of business.

Do I need to visit a GST office in Hyderabad?

No. GST registration is fully online. You only confirm an Aadhaar OTP on your phone. If the officer orders a site visit, they come to your premises; we tell you exactly what to keep ready.

Is there profession tax in Telangana?

Yes. Telangana levies Profession Tax under the Telangana Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1987. Businesses and professionals enrol with the Commercial Taxes Department, and employers deduct PT from salaries. It is separate from GST; we can help with both.

I have an office in Hyderabad and another in Andhra Pradesh. Is one GST registration enough?

No. GST registration is State-wise. Your Hyderabad premises are registered in Telangana (GSTIN starting 36) and an office in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam or anywhere else in Andhra Pradesh needs its own registration (starting 37), under the same PAN.
